General description of the CSO work in the anti-corruption area

Botswana Watch is involved in a number of anti-corruption projects and activities geared towards addressing the issue of corruption and raising awareness on the social ills in Botswana. Our main activities are centred around two key issues namely public education on the social ills of corruption and preventive anti-corruption measures. Our target audience is schoolchildren and the general populace.

Specific description of the CSO work in relation to the UNCAC

Activities that Botswana Watch embarks upon are guided by the UNCAC with particular reference to Article 13. In this regard, we endeavour to make sure that the public can access necessary information related to the corruption issue in Botswana.

Specific description of the CSO work in relation to the review mechanism of the UNCAC

Following the UNCAC Review, Botswana Watch has strengthened its working partnership with the anti-corruption agency in Botswana (Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime) to implement some of the provisions of the convention. During the review of the Second UNCAC Review Cycle, the anti-corruption agency consulted Botswana Watch through a questionnaire and meetings so as to provide input for their review process.

Botswana Watch intends to mobilise other civil society organisations interested to work in the area of fighting corruption and to form civil society anti-corruption networks. A series of activities are planned, such as the  Anti- corruption Exhibition Initiative and events for capacity building among civil society organisations on corruption-related issues.

If you or someone from your organisation has participated in a workshop on UNCAC and its review mechanism organised by UNODC/ UNCAC Coalition, please indicate who, when and where
