Join the UNCAC Coalition and work with us to ensure your governments keep their promises and meet their UNCAC commitments. Collaborate with us, connect with anti-corruption organisations worldwide, share lessons learned and best practice – let’s work together to promote the effective and inclusive implementation and monitoring of the UNCAC.
The UNCAC Coalition is an association registered under Austrian law and welcomes individuals and civil society organisations that share its goals, including non-governmental organisations, academics, trade unions, etc. Becoming a member means joining up with groups from around the world to take part in collaborative advocacy and monitoring of the UNCAC. As a member you will be included on the Coalition’s Listserv and receive regular notifications and updates about UNCAC developments, relevant meetings and other useful information. You will be able to help shape the Coalition’s strategy, positions and statements, can join Coalition working groups on priority topics and can be included in the Coalition’s delegation to UNCAC meetings. You can also receive guidance regarding the UNCAC review process in your country.
Private sector associations (such as chambers of commerce) are not eligible for membership of the UNCAC Coalition. However, we encourage these organisations to sign up to the UN Global Compact to pursue their anti-corruption efforts.
Organisations and individuals can apply to join the Coalition on this page. We encourage you to first read the information on the application process, membership types and application requirements, provided below. The links to the application forms can be found at the bottom of this page.
The Application Process
- Applicants submit an online application (see below).
- The application is assessed by the secretariat to ensure the applicant meets the eligibility criteria for membership.
- If the applicant is eligible, the application is then sent to the UNCAC Coalition Coordination Committee for its review.
- Applicants are notified via email of the outcome of their application.
A) International Membership
An International Member Organisation is defined as a civil society organisation working in three or more countries or with affiliates in three or more countries. A national affiliate of an International Member Organisation is considered separate from that member.
B) National Membership
A National Member Organisation is defined as a civil society organisation working in a single country or in two countries. A national affiliate of an International Member Organisation is considered separate from that member.
- International Member Organisations can put up a candidate in elections for the two seats for International Member Organisations on the Coordination Committee and can vote in elections and in Coalition decision-making processes.
- National Member Organisations can put up a candidate in elections for regional seats on the Coordination Committee and can vote in elections and in Coalition decision-making processes.
- Individuals affiliated with a Member Organisation may participate in Coalition discussions and activities.
Ordinary Member Organisations are involved in the activities of the Coalition and have the roles and responsibilities described in Section 7 of the Charter. Your organisation can become an ordinary member if you provide the following materials together with your application:
- The charter or articles of your organisation, as well as the registration certificate where appropriate
- Your most recent annual audited accounts
- Your most recent annual report
- A current registration statement (i.e. extract from the relevant registry)
Extraordinary Member Organisations support the Coalition, as described in Section 4 of the Charter. They are affiliated with the Association and support its work and mission, but do not have a vote. Your organisation can become an extraordinary member if you provide items (1) or (2) of the materials listed above with your application.
National and International Member Organisations may have several people registered as part of their organisation’s membership, but only one person from the Member Organisation is authorised to vote in elections and take part in decision-making processes. If your organisation would like to change its representative, it is important that you notify us. If your organisation would like to have multiple members included on the Coalition’s Listserv (email list) you should indicate this on the application form or send an email.
C) Individual Members
An Individual Member is defined as a natural person with no affiliation to a Member Organisation. Individual Members may be candidates for and vote in elections for the Individual Member seat on the Coordination Committee. They may also participate in Coalition discussions and activities.
Ordinary Members are involved in the activities of the Association and have the roles and responsibilities described in Section 7 of the Charter.
Extraordinary Members support the Association, as described in Section 4 of the Charter, without the rights and responsibilities of ordinary membership. They are affiliated with the Association and support its work and mission, but do not have a vote.
All Individual Member applicants must fill out the online application form, provide a recent CV and submit two letters of recommendation.
The Coalition Coordination Committee retains discretion to waive, in exceptional circumstances with adequate justification, one or more of the items required of Ordinary Member Organisations or other applicants. It also has discretion, with adequate justification, to request additional information from applicants and to reject an application even if all requested items are supplied.
