Mission and vision

Transparency International Moldova is promoting transparency, integrity and accountability as the main ways to prevent corruption and improve the quality of governance.

General description of the CSO work in the anti-corruption area

Objectives:

  • Qualitative and quantitative assessments of the impact of corruption on the social, economic and democratic development of the country;
  • Increasing the capacities of the government to improve anti-corruption policies by providing trainings for public servants, expertise about the legal framework, issuing policy papers, advocating for changes and monitoring their implementation;
  • Strengthening the capacity of civil society and businesses’ to withstand corruption by providing free legal assistance, raising public awareness of the diminishing the public tolerance towards corruption;
  • Supporting investigative journalism by providing consultancy and motivating balanced,, well-reasoned and ethical investigations.

Target groups: Government institutions, business circles, civil society, mass-media.

Specific description of the CSO work in relation to the UNCAC

TI-Moldova monitors the implementation of the following anti-corruption policies that are part of the UNCAC: declaration and control of incomes and assets, conflict of interests, access to information, including quality of public web-pages, internal control, transparency of public finance, public procurement, and quality of the petition system.

Specific description of the CSO work in relation to the review mechanism of the UNCAC

TI–Moldova has not participated in the UNCAC review mechanism, but it provides policy proposals and expertise with regard to the anti-corruption legal framework to the decision makers and advocates for their implementation. For example, TI–Moldova assisted with the elaboration of the Law on Conflict of Interests and the creation of the National Integrity Authority in Moldova.

A global civil society network promoting the implementation and monitoring of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC)
