This post was originally published on the UNODC website.

This is a call for application for NGOs in Latin America to participate in a meeting on Fast Tracking the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and its Review Mechanism.

The call for applications for NGOs in Latin America is now open and the deadline to apply is 1 April 2019. The meeting will take place on 7–10 May 2019 in Cartagena, Colombia.

This conference seeks to build on the momentum generated by the UK Anti-Corruption Summit that took place in London in May 2016, foster partnerships and create a regional platform to fast track the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in support of Sustainable Development Goal 16 in Latin America.

More specifically, the conference will launch a regional platform, bringing together States parties in Latin America, particularly focusing on the countries mentioned below, with a variety of key technical assistance providers, including donors, international/regional organizations, private sector entities, and civil society organizations. The purpose of the platform is to leverage means and actions to accelerate UNCAC implementation in the spirit of the UK Summit communiqué through:

  • taking stock of UNCAC implementation within the various participating countries;
  • identifying common priorities and cross-cutting technical assistance needs for follow up at regional and national levels;
  • sharing and identifying good practices in implementing priority UNCAC articles;
  • matching technical assistance demand with supply, identifying any remaining challenges and technical assistance gaps;
  • generating ideas on how to energize the implementation of relevant key articles of UNCAC, based on identified regional priorities.
Working languages: English and Spanish
