Breaking the silos: Combating corruption and environmental crime to advance climate protection goals

21 November 2024 –

This discussion paper by the UNCAC Coalition’s Working Group on Environmental Crime and Corruption aims to provide a foundation to facilitate discussions on interlinkages between corruption, environmental crime and climate degradation to inform future actions in multilateral fora, in particular at the 11th UN Convention against Corruption Conference of the States Parties (UNCAC CoSP) and the 30th UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP) that will both take place in 2025.

It will also be relevant for consideration in the follow-up actions to be undertaken by policymakers following the 12th UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime Conference of the Parties (UNTOC COP), held in October this year.
