Mission and vision

A coffee a day takes corruption away.

General description of the CSO work in governance and anti-corruption area

Thai Youth Anti-Corruption Network combines more than 4,000 Thai university students from more than 90 universities in Thailand, sponsored by the UNDP, to use social media platforms in developing a powerful network. It provides a space for students to share ideas, photos and information about anti-corruption campaigns. The network’s funding came from student-run coffee shops across university campuses where students outside our network can contribute toward anti-corruption campaigns by purchasing a cup of coffee. The coffee revenues contributed to strengthen our network’s ability in campaigning against corruption for our society’s benefits. The network won a “Creative For Good” best practice by the World Economic Forum in 2013.

Specific description of the CSO work in connection with the UNCAC

The UNCAC has outlined the importance of the participation of civil societies and the general public in ensuring transparency of the country’s governance. Our online platform enables university students to receive a chance to contribute toward transparency through raising revenues from coffees on campus and make movie productions to educate others about the importance of transparency. Also, our network creates an online space where the Thai youth can access information about latest updates in terms of information regarding Thailand’s public transparency.

Other remarks

Apart from raising revenues from coffees through the use of our online platforms and coffee shops on university campuses to campaign against corruption, the contribution of our Thai Youth Anti-Corruption Network also includes an augment in young people’s anti-corruption spirits as they run the network in a transparent manner without monetary supports from the government. Many of those who participated in our network would grow up to take part in leading the Thai society, and the network has inspired them to be an important force of change in their society.
