The mission of the Riinvest Institute is to promote the modern economic development of Kosovo, based on a philosophy of entrepreneurship.

General description of the CSO work in the anti-corruption area

Riinvest Institute has developed more than 100 research reports covering different aspects of development policy. The institute has conducted more than 50 surveys with around 100,000 respondents, and 10 annual reports on SME development; it has developed 17 local economic development strategies for municipalities. In the past 4 years alone, the Riinvest institute has been part of two important networks on anti-corruption and good governance, the South Eastern Leadership for Development and Integrity (SELDI), and the Policy Association for an Open Society (PASOS). Riinvest Institute has also been a vital contributor to the research and reports produced as part of both of these teams. Overall, Riinvest is focused on establishing knowledge based documents that study anti-corruption in Kosovo, and developing help mechanisms to improve the situation.

Specific description of the CSO work in relation to the UNCAC

In the effort to spread the anti-corruption mission, as part of the implementation of the activities within the SELDI initiative, Riinvest Institute was a very active advocate for the implementation of anticorruption policies. The work focused on research and advocacy. Two population-wide corruption surveys on public experience were conducted, including questions related to the citizens’ experience with hidden economy. The institute held meetings to discuss the key findings with representatives from different institutions including local media, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development, the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Kosovo Statistics Agency, the EULEX, and the UNDP. The discussion of the Civil Society Strategy led to meetings with different organizations, namely Cohu and Kosovo Democratic Institute (Transparency International Chapter in Kosovo), Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. Riinvest Institute also participated in local events, including the workshop on “Transparency in the Mining Industry”; sharing the project with more than 50 representatives from local and international institutions.
