Priority areas the organisation is working on

The Platform members provide access to adequate assistance and support to victims. The Secretariat and members provide information and knowledge exchange, work on capacity building of NGOs and other stakeholders, and cross-sectoral cooperation. A large focus is put on monitoring and advocacy for change to ensure accountability for the effective implementation of European Anti-Trafficking policies and regulations.

Priority advocacy focuses include unconditional access to support, the recognition of all forms of trafficking, safe reporting, fair migration opportunities, decent work, access to residence, and non-punishment.

Most important achievements in past two years

La Strada International (LSI) helped to assist over 4000 trafficked persons in Europe and contributed to information provision and awareness-raising. The organisation was further very active on advocacy at the European level and closely monitored European developments. Statements and reports were launched to promote the rights of trafficked persons. At CoE level,  LSI joined the CoE human trafficking lawyers network; closely followed the work of the GRETA monitoring group, and organised a side event with the GRETA secretariat.

LSI also provided input for a new resolution by the Council of Europe on labour exploitation.

Specific description of the CSO’s work on anti-corruption

LSI’s mandate focuses on addressing human trafficking and all projects and campaigns are related to that. However, organised trafficking cannot take place without corruption. Trafficking in persons is one of the most lucrative forms of organised crime and requires systematic corruption. To combat human trafficking, it is therefore important to also address corruption.
