With the goal of enriching the content of information/data in ideological discussions and arguments, TEPAV aims to improve policy proposals and helps ideas come to life through concrete projects.
General description of the CSO work in the anti-corruption area
TEPAV is one of the leading stakeholders that contribute to anti-corruption efforts in Turkey. Under the leadership of the Governance Centre of TEPAV, four conferences have been held since 2005. In the scope of these conferences, there have been discussions about anti-corruption policy options for Turkey, the relationship between corruption and decentralization, corruption, political ethics and financing of politics and finally corruption in the private sector. In addition to the conferences, TEPAV also produces policy notes on the anti-corruption agenda of Turkey. Finally TEPAV implements a project that aims to promote business ethics and integrity in Turkey funded by the Prosperity Fund of the British Embassy.
Specific description of the CSO work in relation to the UNCAC
As a part of the G20 2015 Summit Turkey Presidency, TEPAV led a T20 outreach group and produced an “SME Anti-Corruption Toolkit” with the B20 Anti-Corruption Task Force, which is an output of the Prosperity Fund.
Specific description of the CSO work in relation to the review mechanism of the UNCAC
Although TEPAV has not participated directly in the review mechanism, its anti-corruption research can contribute to the objectives of UNCAC.
TEPAV joined the Southeast Europe Leadership for Development and Integrity (SELDI) network, starting with the second phase of implementation in March, 2015. TEPAV represents Turkey in this coalition together with TESEV. TEPAV has been involved in this phase of the SELDI project by (i) preparing the energy governance report, (ii)analysing the data collected through the survey conducted to evaluate the current situation on anti-corruption agenda and perceptions towards corruption, and (iii) attending the meetings held both in Brussels and the region.
