    About the campaign

    What is the IRM?

The Implementation Review Mechanism (IRM) is the system by which States track implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). It’s important because it’s the means by which States report on their compliance with important anti-corruption commitments and obligations.

    What’s wrong with it?

Our research shows that the IRM is weak, lacks transparency, lacks inclusive and is inefficient. It is not an effective mechanism for holding States to their UNCAC obligations.

What are we planning to do about it?

We have launched a campaign to strengthen the IRM and make it #FitForPurpose for holding States accountable. We aim to make the IRM more effective, inclusive, transparent, and efficient.

    How can you support?

We are asking civil society organizations to join our campaign to make the IRM #FitForPurpose. Our objective is to push States to adopt a significantly strengthened review mechanism at the next Conference of States Parties (CoSP) in 2025.
