1 September 2023 –
You’re invited to join Transparency International & the UNCAC Coalition in person or online (sign up to join via Zoom) for a discussion of TI’s new working paper proposing measures to tackle grand corruption.
The event, made possible by Norway, will take place alongside UNCAC meetings next week at the UN in Vienna, Austria:
Countering Grand Corruption
Wednesday, 6 September, 14:00-15:00,
(Vienna International Center, Room M2, M-Building & on Zoom)
Despite the gravity of grand corruption crimes, the high-level perpetrators and their associates too often escape accountability thanks to justice systems “unable or unwilling” to perform. There is an urgent need for the international community and individual states to scale up criminal enforcement efforts and ensure remediation of the serious and widespread harm to victims.
During the event, the TI author of the working paper will explain TI’s legal definition of grand corruption and propose special measures and structures to counter grand corruption impunity, after which participants will be invited to share their feedback and views.
