On 6 November 2026, States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) will adopt the documents that will govern how every country’s anti-corruption commitments are reviewed for the next decade. Once adopted, these will be very hard to change. Now is the moment to get our message across as civil society.
That is why we have asked civil society around the world to endorse our open letter to all 193 States Parties, urging them to adopt these documents for a more effective, transparent and inclusive UNCAC Implementation Review Mechanism (IRM) without further delay.
The first country reviews under the new phase will begin in 2027. What is adopted now – including how far civil society can take part in country reviews and how transparent the process will be – will shape the UNCAC’s effectiveness for years to come.
The letter has been signed by almost 400 non-governmental organizations, other entities, bodies and companies, as well as individuals who work or have worked on anti-corruption issues.
