Privacy and data protection policy

The protection of your personal data is very important to us.

Therefore we process your data exclusively on the basis of the legal regulations which apply in Austria (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR, Data Protection Act, TKG 2003). In this privacy policy, we inform you about the most important aspects of data processing within our website.

If you contact us

If you contact us by means of a form on the website or by e-mail, your data will be stored for the purpose of processing the request and in case of follow-up questions as well as for future contact with us. We will not share this information without your consent.

Cookies

Our website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your device using the browser. They do no harm.
We use cookies to make our offer user-friendly. Some cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. They allow us to recognize your browser on your next visit.

If you do not want this, you can set up your browser so that it informs you about the setting of cookies and you allow this only in individual cases. The deactivation of cookies may limit the functionality of our website.

Web analytics

Our website uses features of the web analytics service Google Analytics by Google LLC or Google Ireland Limited. For this purpose, cookies are used that allow an analysis of the use of the website by your users. The information generated thereby is transmitted to the server of the provider and stored there.

You can prevent this by setting up your browser so that no cookies are stored. We have concluded a corresponding contract data processing contract with the provider.

Your IP address is detected but pseudonymized immediately (by deleting the last 8 bits). As a result, only a rough localization is possible.

The relationship with the web analytics provider is based on the “Privacy Shield” agreement between the EU and the US. Data processing is based on the statutory provisions of § 96 (3) TKG and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a (consent) and / or f (legitimate interest) of the GDPR.

Our concern within the meaning of the DSGVO (legitimate interest) is the improvement of our offer and our website. Since the privacy of our users is important to us, the user data is pseudonymized. The user data is kept for a period of 50 months.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Media and metadata

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). We also often link to other websites, including those of civil society organisations, international organisations and media outlets.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content.
