Transparency Pledge

The Pledge is a voluntary commitment to meet minimum standards of transparency and civil society participation in the UNCAC Implementation Review Mechanism.

We call on States Parties to sign our Transparency Pledge for the second UNCAC review cycle.

To date, 47 States Parties have signed the Transparency Pledge, reaffirming the importance of transparency and public consultation in addressing corruption. Their commitment signals a strong belief that civil society can play a crucial role in preventing and combatting corruption in their country, contributing to the successful implementation of UNCAC provisions.

The six principles of the Pledge include:

  1. Publishing updated review schedules for the country review.
  2. Sharing information about the review institution or coordinator (focal point).
  3. Announcing the completion of the country review, indicating where the report can be found.
  4. Promptly posting online the self-assessment and the country report in a UN language, together with the executive summary in local languages.
  5. Organizing civil society briefings and public debates about the findings of the report.
  6. Publicly supporting participation of civil society observers in the UNCAC subsidiary bodies.

We congratulate the 47 countries that have signed the Transparency Pledge so far. To ensure this commitment is implemented in practice, we regularly track compliance with the Transparency Pledge’s principles, as shown in the map below.
