Mission

The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) is one of Georgia’s one of the most respected and pioneering civil society organizations, established in 2009 to promote transparency and open governance, anti-corruption and rule of law, civic and journalists rights. For over fifteen years, IDFI has been a driving force behind efforts to strengthen democracy, defend human rights, and protect media freedom in Georgia and across the wider region. IDFI’s mission is to empower citizens through right to access to information and to ensure that state institutions uphold principles of openness, justice, and accountability.
The organization is recognized for its leading role in advocating freedom of information, supporting investigative journalism, monitoring government transparency, fact documenting and fighting corruption. Its activities include policy research, data analysis, strategic litigation and free legal aid to journalists and civic activists, civic education on fighting corruption and open government, digital rights, and media independence. IDFI has consistently worked to expose corruption, fight censorship, and promote good governance that respects human dignity and democratic values.
