CEOs call for an effective UNCAC Review Mechanism

In a Letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Chief Executives from leading companies call on governments to more effectively and robustly implement the Convention by adopting an effective implementation review mechanism at the next Conference of States Parties to be held in Doha in November 2009. The letter was signed by 24 CEO’s at the invitation of the International Chambre of Commerce, Transparency International, the World Economic Forum-Partnering Against Corruption Iniatitive and the UN Global Compact and initiates a broader campaign inviting business leader across the globe to sign the statement in support of the Convention.

In their letter CEO’s call for the establishment of a credible and effective review mechanism and suggest that;

  • The process should have adequate and dependable long-term funding;
  • It should include country visits with peer reviewers from other countries;
  • The process should function transparently, with inputs from the private sector and other stakeholders, and with published reports.

How to participate

The Global Compact encourages CEO’s to demonstrate their support for the statement by adding their name to the list of signatories.
