Transparency International Uganda

Ordinary National Member Organization

Mission

Transparency International Uganda (TI Uganda) was founded in 1993 as a pressure group to bring together people’s voluntary initiatives to enhance accountability, transparency and integrity among all Ugandans. The organization has since grown from a small pressure group started by some lawyers and eminent Ugandans to an autonomous civil society organization registered with the Uganda NGO Board (under the Non-governmental Organisations Statute (1989) as a non-profit making organisation and is incorporated under the Companies Act, Cap.85 as a body corporate) working to create change towards a Uganda free of corruption and its effects. Its jurisdiction is country wide and addresses all forms of corruption with specific emphasis on Grand and political corruption in government institutions. The organization was accredited in 1996 as the National Chapter in Uganda to Transparency International whose headquarters are in Berlin, Germany – The global Coalition against corruption.
