Mission

ACIJ is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to defending the rights of disadvantaged groups and strengthening democracy in Argentina. ACIJ works to promote the effective enforcement of the Constitution and the rule of law, ensure compliance with laws protecting vulnerable populations, eradicate discrimination, and foster participatory and deliberative democratic practices. ACIJ’s work is organized around three main strategic areas. The first focuses on improving the quality of democracy by promoting political equality, strengthening institutions, and reducing barriers that limit access to justice and legal remedies. The second addresses economic inequality and the impact of urban poverty, including the effects of regressive fiscal structures and residential segregation, which create additional obstacles to the exercise of rights for low-income communities. The third area focuses on advancing the social rights of vulnerable groups, who often face structural barriers and discrimination in accessing fundamental rights such as education, health, and autonomy. Through research, advocacy, strategic litigation, and policy engagement, ACIJ seeks to strengthen accountability in public institutions, promote public policy reforms and raise awareness of fundamental rights.
