African Center on Governance, Asset Recovery and Sustainable Development

Ordinary National Member Organization

Mission

The African Center for Governance, Asset Recovery, and Sustainable Development, headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria, is an independent research organization dedicated to promoting good governance, the rule of law, and sustainable development. The Center collaborates with national governments and international entities to foster cooperation in recovering and returning the proceeds of corruption and illicit financial flows. These efforts aim to bridge funding gaps for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The Center’s mission involves reinforcing links between governance and asset recovery through training, research, and strategy development. It advocates for the social reuse of stolen assets to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty across the global South. Ultimately, the African Center envisions a world free from illicit financial flows, where recovered crime proceeds are returned to victims of corruption to foster prosperity and strengthen justice institutions.
