Mission
AfriCOG is a Kenyan civil society organization that was officially registered in January 2007 as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. AfriCOG envisions a Kenya and region in which citizens and civic organizations are permanently vigilant over public life and actively watch over politics and the economy. Through AfriCOG’s expertise of its Board members, the Executive Director and consultants, it conducts policy-relevant, cutting edge research. This serves as the backbone of AfriCOG’s work and forms the basis for advocacy and mobilization. The research focuses on three main areas: examining the enduring basis of Kenya’s governance problems i.e. structural, institutional or legal weaknesses; maintaining relevance and public interest, and; examining topical or transient issues. AfriCOG also assesses and monitors the work of key governance institutions through provision of usable information to empower and reinvigorate reform efforts. AfriCOG has thus gained a reputation as a leading CSO in evidence-based anti-corruption and governance advocacy, both nationally and abroad.
