Mission
The WJC works to disrupt and dismantle transnational criminal networks trafficking wildlife, timber, and fish by collecting evidence and turning it into accountability, so that organised crime is not driving species to extinction.
Wildlife and other environmental crimes have far-reaching consequences. These crimes are frequently enabled by corruption and connected to other serious crimes, including financial crime. Our theory of change is that by supporting governments to investigate and prosecute wildlife crime cases, we can shift the dynamic of wildlife crime from a low-risk, high-reward activity to one where offenders face real consequences.
Through intelligence-led, undercover investigations, we target the most significant criminal networks involved in wildlife trafficking, focusing on high-level traffickers and key enablers. We analyse and share actionable intelligence with law enforcement to support investigations, arrests, and prosecutions, while providing operational support and capacity-building to strengthen enforcement efforts.
The insights generated through our investigations also inform international policy discussions and help build political will to promote a more coordinated and effective global response to environmental crimes and connected threats.
