Organisation Profile

Founded in November 2001 by the Minister of Labor and Social Development, BTS is the first and only NGO specialized in promoting transparency and anti-corruption in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is an active member of Transparency International and a member of several Arab networks including as Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND) which is specialized in SDGs, and Arab Anti-Corruption and Integrity Network (ACINET). BTS’s mission is to promote the culture and practices of transparency, anti-corruption and good governance at the government, private sector, media and civil society sector.

  • Rouned table meeting on some major corruption cases
  • Observing Bahrain’s election on 2018 and other NGO’s elections
  • Has conducted events on SDG’s implementation in Bahrain along with other societies such as Bahrain Young Ladies Association, Bahrain Women Union
  • BTS also prepared the shadow Universal Periodic Review Report (UPR) for Bahrain

Top Three Priorities to Achieve for the Coalition

  • Broader participation of coalition members in conferences of States parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption
  • Expand cooperation between members of the alliance with others, and with international transparency and organizations working in this field as well as in the field of human rights
  • Increasing the effectiveness of relations with anti-corruption bodies, especially in the MENA region

Representative Profile

Sayed Sharaf Mohsen Almosawi is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of Bahrain Transparency Society. Prior experience includes managing the Internal Audit Department at the Bahrain Training Institute, leading financial and administrative affairs and services in several projects of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.
