Mission and vision
The BCSP is an independent think-tank established in 1997 (previously the Centre for Civil-Military Relations) to advocate for national and human security, based on principles of democracy and human rights. It is committed to the consolidation of security sector reform and the security integration processes by means of creating an inclusive knowledge-based security policy.
General description of the CSO work in the anti-corruption area
BCSP has been advocating for better integrity of security sector by independent and continuous monitoring of anti-corruption policies and integrity building measures, as well as through research on corruption risks. A major indicator of the BCSP’s expertise in this field is the fact that it was selected as a country assessor for Serbia in both the Transparency International Government Defence Anti-Corruption Index surveys that have taken place so far (2012, 2014). The BCSP has also been selected to perform the Citizens’ Overseer of Public Procurement, which is a mechanism established in Serbia to increase the transparency of, and reduce corruption risk in public procurement. The methodology toolkit for performance audits in the security sector made by the BCSP has been recommended as an indispensableresource by the State Audit Institution on its web page. BCSP is also leading POINTPULSE the regional network dedicating to building integrity in the police.
