Mission and vision

Companies – and countries – free of corruption

General description of the CSO work in governance and anti-corruption area

The Business Integrity Alliance (BIA) is a collective action organisation based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and was formed with a mission to combat corruption factors affecting the private sector. The BIA connects companies, chambers of commerce and industry groups with the government to highlight corruption issues in their supply chains and everyday operations, in order to ensure strategic targeting of corruption hotspots.

The BIA also organises anti-corruption best practice sessions in order to build capacity for its members and raise awareness on corruption issues among the general public.

Specific description of the CSO work in connection with the UNCAC

The BIA’s activities primarily consist of best practice sharing sessions that aim to equip our members with preventative tools and knowledge to combat corruption in their daily operations. This might include sessions on developing codes of conduct, on procedures for interfacing with public officials, and on establishing effective whistleblowing channels.

Our other focus is on acting as a collective action organisation: We aim to bring together large, medium-size and small companies into a community that can help the government highlight hotspots where corruption issues arise in the intersection of the public and private sectors.

BIA attended a CSO roundtable on fast-tracking the implementation of the UNCAC in December 2018 in Bangkok.
